With most medical equipment, the instruction manual says store in a dark, cool and dry place. There are different medicines for different ailments, so make sure that you use separate and appropriate containers for different medicines:  Also do not forget to make sure that the first-aid kit supplies are kept in large, water proof and non-breakable containers which ensure a longer shelf life.

Early Effects. One of the first things we do in the mornings when we wake up is go straight to our coffee machine and get our brew going.  Once you pour yourself a cup of coffee, it does not take long for the effects of the drink to be felt on the body.


Scientific studies show that caffeine, which is found in coffee, starts affecting the body 10 minutes after its ingestion. It creates different pathological effects when it gets into the bloodstream, including increased heart rate and blood pressure.


As coffee continues to take effect from 10 minutes to one and a half hours after drinking, it counteracts the effects of small alcohol quantities taken. It makes the drinkers more alert and improves their performance although they will still feel dizzy.


Increased Concentration and Alertness. The full effects of coffee start appearing after 20 minutes, when people start getting more alert. They will also be able to concentrate better. According to a U.S. researcher, this state can go on up to 10 hours later. During this period, people are less likely to have cognitive failures like forgetting where they place items or making wrong choices.


Enhanced Athletic Performance. In addition to improving brain function, coffee can enhance athletic performance after 30 minutes of drinking a cup. It helps the body make better use of energy by affecting the spinal motor neurons when the level of serotonin in the brain increases. In addition, caffeine releases adrenaline, which the body uses for energy instead of glycogen, allowing people to exert themselves longer before feeling tired.


More Energy Expenditure. Coffee helps in burning body fat between 30 minutes and four hours after drinking it. A large study involving men of normal weight who did not exercise showed that only 50 mg of coffee increased energy expenditure notably. Coffee helps the body burn fat even when people are physically inactive. It also helps the body metabolize food faster, which is good for weight loss.


Improved Mood. Between 30 minutes and six hours after drinking coffee, people tend to be in better moods as their anxiety decreases. Studies show that consuming at least 100 mg of coffee improves feelings of contentment and inertia within this period.


Varying Effects. Coffee tends to have different effects between two and 12 hours after drinking it. Different people react differently, and even the same individuals may have different effects on different days. Although the effects of coffee typically start wearing off after two to three hours, the effects may last up to 12 hours in some people. Several factors influence the times coffee takes to wear off, including sensitivity to caffeine and age.


Withdrawal Symptoms. For some people, the effects of coffee may last up to 24 hours. However, regular coffee drinkers usually experience withdrawal symptoms after 18 hours, which may include fatigue and headache. While some people do not experience the withdrawal symptoms, those who do may experience the effects for between two and nine days.


Effects of Regular Consumption of Coffee. Many people drink at least a cup of coffee almost every day. In such a situation, the body builds some tolerance to coffee, and its effects will be relatively minimal. Different people have different tolerance levels.

  • How your recovery is progressing: If you are making a speedy recovery and seem well in yourself, this will go in your favour as opposed to someone who is feeling unwell and taking some time to pull around (which is understandable).

  • What injuries you have: Breaks, sprains, torn ligaments, bruising and cuts can be very painful while they are healing and some injuries may affect your ability to perform daily tasks such as walking, cooking, or bathing, whether short term or long term.

  • If you have someone to help you when you get home: It is vital that you have someone or a few people to support you while you recover, whether your daughter comes to make lunch, or your husband or wife helps you take a shower and get your bedclothes on.

  • How well your home will support you: In the short term, you might have to avoid climbing stairs or using a bath if such things would be difficult. In the longer term, if any of your injuries will be long-lasting, there may need to be a few changes made to your home to accommodate your changed needs.


If your injuries affect your ability to bear weight, you will usually receive physiotherapy in hospital before being discharged with a wheelchair, crutches, a walking cast, or with a splint or support.
